DIY hair cut and save gas.

Google “Peak Oil”. Once you’ve researched it for yourself and you comprehend how the ever rising price of oil will eventually affect everything you pay for, you’ll realize that cutting your own hair might just save you enough extra cash to fill your tank and make it to work so you can afford putting that food on your table or that credit card payment. After watching a couple of videos on how to cut your own hair (Thanks Toby and Gary), I decided not only to go through with cutting my hair, but also film myself while doing it. I figured, why not, it’s the first time I’ve ever done it and I do have a time lapse feature on my camera so what the heck? :) The haircut was ok (probably could have gotten a better one through my usual stylist), but I did learn a little and with some better scissors, I’m sure I’ll do a better job next time. At the very least, I saved myself $25 and a 8 mile roundtrip to the stylist. Song used during time lapse is Ulrich Schnauss – Between Us and Them. www.myspace.com/hendersonphotography

    Good.

Try shorter for back and sides.

I’ve been cutting my own hair for a long time.
But it does take practice and it may be a good idea to have a few hats — and maybe some clippers — in case things go badly wrong. ;)

For the back, it helps to get a shaving mirror and prop it up on something behind you.

DIY haircutting saves money and is good for the environment.

With any basic video editing software (Windows Movie Maker, iMovie) you can speed up the footage to make it seem like time-lapse.

How long did it take ? :)

What kind of camera do you have that has a Time Lapse feature?

Hey! Nice job, you thanked the people who made the video you learned from, but could you link to them? I can’t seem to find anything by Toby and Gary. Thanks!

Depending on the lightning in your room, it’s sometimes better to turn around and look in the little mirror that will reflect the big one.

If you live in an apartment building, you can put an ad in the laundry room. You’ll cut someone’s hair, and he/she will cut yours. The future is in alliance.

If you keep that saved money at the bank, you’ll have $7000 in 10 years!

I did once last year, and it did not turn out too good. Everybody laughed at me because of it. I decided today to give it another try. This time it’s all right. Learn from my example.

Absolutely. I save $250 a year. On 10 years, that’s $2500! I think that with the great depression coming soon, it’s everyone’s responsibility to find ways of doing things themselves. A good example is to learn how to fix your car.

    You did good. Bravo.
